Simon Nicholls

Associate Director

Simon Nicholls is an Associate Director in the Forensic Technology & eDiscovery team, within Teneo’s Financial Advisory business, based in London. ​

Simon is an eDiscovery and digital forensic specialist with more than 14 years of experience in litigation, investigations and regulatory compliance. Simon has supported clients across a wide range of industry sectors and managed teams on global projects in relation to litigation, disputes, investigations, inquiries and divestitures. ​

Simon regularly works alongside in-house legal and investigations teams at corporate organisations, UK and international law firms, and regulatory bodies. He provides specialists advice on the end-to-end process of the identification, capture, processing and review of structured, unstructured and semi-structured data types using the latest technologies and techniques.​​

Prior to joining Teneo, Simon worked at a leading international law firm advising counsel and clients on the best methodologies for data review and disclosure, including on the preservation and review utilising advanced technologies to enhance the projects outcome. .​

 

Selected Project Experience:

  • Financial Trading administration — He led a complex scoping and data preservation exercise for a financial trading organisation undergoing a special administration. He subsequently supported the forensic investigation into the actions of the company’s directors and managed ongoing data requests from regulators​.
  • Insurance dispute — As part of a $3.5B insurance dispute, Simon led a team to identify, process, analyse and manage the review of relevant material utilising advanced review and analytics techniques to enhance the document review process. Handling a document population of over 30 million documents, he collaborated with senior stakeholders to manage the full project lifecycle and complex disclosure requirements.
  • Divestiture — Simon led the data identification, review and remediation workstream on a European divestiture involving a manufacturing client. He designed and implemented a workflow to identify commercially sensitive data for forensic destruction from live systems.​
