Shamaila Ashraf

Vice President

Shamaila Ashraf has experience advising international agencies, private firms, and philanthropies on the role that technology and data can play in furthering global objectives.

As a Vice President at Teneo, Shamaila supports the Geopolitical Advisory team on product development and contributes to research efforts in the technology sector. Shamaila monitors technology-related regulatory changes and trends in the sector to inform client decision-making on operations and new investments.

Prior to joining Teneo, Shamaila worked in the technology for development space as a consultant managing projects and advising clients on how to build “technology for good” in emerging markets. She has advised public and private sector actors on topics such as satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and data standardization. She has led technology-enabled projects in agriculture, global health delivery, and climate resilience for major donors and technology companies.

Shamaila holds a Master’s in international economics and development from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a B.A. in philosophy, politics, and economics from the University of Michigan. She is fluent in Hindi and speaks Urdu and Spanish.
