Richard Arnold

Non-Executive Chairman, Financial Advisory Sports Practice

Richard Arnold is Non-Executive Chairman of Teneo’s Financial Advisory Sports Practice, based in London. Richard also sits on the board of Norton Motorcycles and is Founder and Chairman of Red Tiger Marketing.

Until 2023, Richard was the CEO of Manchester United PLC, one of the world’s most popular and valuable sports franchises. Prior to being named CEO, he served as Managing Director from 2013 until 2022, overseeing all operational and commercial aspects of the club. Richard joined Manchester United in 2007 and was responsible for sponsorships, retail, merchandising licensing and digital media as its Commercial Director.

During his tenure at Manchester United, Richard generated $7bn in commercial revenue, securing multiple world record sponsorship and merchandising deals. He also implemented the largest and most successful digital engagement platform in world sport, which supported the team’s market value growth from £795m to £4.3bn. Additionally, Richard led the management team through the strategic process that culminated in the investment by Ineos. Richard has been recognized for his work with Manchester United’s Foundation, and was honored as Diversity Ally of the Year in 2019.

Prior to his time at Manchester United, Richard served as Deputy Managing Director at InterVoice, where he oversaw international channels and marketing. Before that, he worked at Global Crossing Europe, focusing on the restructuring of their business. Richard began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, serving as a senior manager in telecommunications and media.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Bristol and became a Chartered Accountant in 1996.
