Mark Allitt

Senior Managing Director

Mark Allitt is a Senior Managing Director with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business, based in Bermuda. Mark has over 20 years of experience focusing on insurance solutions for the global insurance, reinsurance and captive industries. He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner.

Prior to joining Teneo, Mark was a Partner at KPMG in Bermuda, head of their advisory practice and regional insurance sector leader. He has gained extensive experience in the insurance industry over the past 20 years, of which the last 15 years have been based in Bermuda. Mark has worked on reinsurance consulting engagements for both P&C and life insurers within Bermuda and internationally.

Over the course of his career, Mark has worked on engagements in over 50 countries, developing an extensive and broad network of contacts within the insurance investor and regulator community, as well as a good understanding of the operational and regulatory environments around the world. He has extensive experience working with clients and stakeholders throughout the life cycle of an insurance entity, from initial formation through to structural and operational restructuring, to optimize efficiency or address stress or distress within an entity or group.

Mark is a member of the Bermuda Insurance Advisory Committee (IAC), a statutory body in Bermuda, as well as an active member of various industry groups assisting with new business generation and the organizations educational aims.

 

Selected Project Experience:

  • Advisor to new commercial class insurers – Acted as advisor to assist several new P&C and life insurance start ups in Bermuda.
  • Group captive – Designed and implemented a scheme of arrangement for the wind-down of a group captive as a mechanism to avoid potential insolvency. Through the design of the scheme of arrangement together with proactive management of the claims, the entity successfully closed with surplus distributed to shareholders.
  • ILS platform wind down – Acted as advisor and liquidator for the group’s planned solvent wind down of the ILS platform. This is the first such wind-down of an ILS platform in order to accelerate and maximize return of collateral and assets to investors.
  • Life – Assisted with several options analysis projects for non-core subsidiaries, which resulted in successful transactions with third parties.
  • Insolvency of a P&I Club – Managed a large-scale cross border liquidation of a P&I club, which was insolvent and non-compliant with various regulatory requirements.
  • Insolvency of a life insurer – Acted as joint liquidator of a segregated accounts company life insurer domiciled in Bermuda and with affiliates in Europe.
