Ian Morgan

Director

Ian Morgan is a Director in Teneo’s Performance Improvement team in Birmingham, advising companies undergoing a turnaround or transformation.

Ian has over 12 years of experience from the automotive industry and as an advisor across sectors, providing hands on support to executive management teams to create and deliver turnaround and transformation strategies.  He brings expertise in cash and working capital management, international trade finance and capital investment efficiency.

Previously Ian spent 6 years with Jaguar Land Rover, holding positions in Corporate Strategy transformation team and various Finance roles.  He also spent 6 years with PwC in the Operational Restructuring team advising clients in a range of sectors on cost reduction and cash improvement programmes.

Ian is a Chartered Global Management Accountant and Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  He holds a Diploma in Corporate Finance and read Finance at Lancaster University Management School.

Selected Recent Project Experience

  • Turnaround of UK division of Global Corporate: Led a cross disciplined team to diagnose underperformance of the division and develop a turnaround plan, working with local senior management and senior directors overseas to develop and launch initiatives.
  • Turnaround of DIY retailer: Advised CFO and Commercial Director on the cash and working capital, and global sourcing performance of the business. Led team to deliver >£100m (30%) improvement, and developed business case for an international sourcing office.
  • Jaguar Land Rover turnaround: reporting directly to the Chief Transformation Officer, led the development and launch of Project Charge, a £6.5bn enterprise wide turnaround programme. Advised the CTO on the financial outlook and focus areas, led comms to engage Executive Board, worked with Corporate Finance and Corporate Strategy director to develop turnaround plan and mobilise consulting teams; led the delivery of £1bn inventory reduction workstream.
  • Glanbia: Advised Group Procurement director on the business case and implementation of a supply chain finance and supplier negotiation programme.
  • UK food producer: Delivered a cost reduction workshop with senior management team covering direct and indirect procurement, inventory, manufacturing sites.
  • Woolworths (Australia): Advised Group CFO on implementing a group wide ROIC performance measure, led team to identify over $1bn of cash improvements agreed to be implemented by divisional finance directors, $100m property finance deal delivered within 6 months by Group Treasury
  • Tesco: Supported a working capital improvement programme across UK supermarkets division, including inventory optimization, supplier negotiation programme, and receivables reduction.
