Giji Alex is an Associate Director at Teneo in the Cayman Islands office.
Giji has over 10 years of experience working across tax and restructuring. Giji’s primary area of expertise is with voluntary liquidations and official liquidations in the Cayman Islands and these engagements have included liquidations of Delaware entities, complex financial investigations, and asset recovery both in the Cayman Islands and abroad. Prior to joining Teneo as part of its acquisition of KPMG’s restructuring service line, Giji worked at KPMG in New York since 2011, joining the Cayman team in 2012.
Giji is experienced in managing a number of voluntary liquidations of solvent investment vehicles with outstanding regulatory reporting obligations, working closely with service providers to facilitate the timely winding up of these structures, liaison with regulatory bodies such as the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and the Department of International Tax Cooperation, and distribution of funds to stakeholders in compliance with the relevant laws of the Cayman Islands.
Giji received her Master of Accounting at the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at the University of Miami. Giji is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), a member of the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accounts (CIIPA), a member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and a member of the Recovery and Insolvency Specialists Association (RISA).
Giji is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in New York.
