Eric Herman

Managing Director

Eric Herman is a Managing Director with Teneo’s Strategy and Communications business, based in Chicago. At Teneo, Eric focuses most of his time on Crisis Communications.

Prior to joining Teneo, Eric was a Senior Vice President at Avoq, where he advised corporations, institutions and individuals on high-stakes challenges. He specialized in crisis and litigation communications as well as public affairs campaigns and labor issues, winning numerous industry awards. In 2023 and 2024, Lawdragon named Eric to its elite list of “100 Leaders in Legal Strategy & Consulting” in recognition of his crisis work.

Before the merger of Kivvit and Subject Matter that created Avoq, Eric spent over a decade at Kivvit as a Managing Director. Eric also held public affairs and communications roles with Burson-Marsteller and in Cook County government. He began his career as a journalist, working as a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and for the New York Daily News, where he was part of the team covering the 9/11 attacks.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law.
