David Collins is a Managing Director with Teneo’s Financial Advisory business, based in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
David is a financial advisory leader with over 17 years of experience across multiple jurisdictions (both regionally and globally) successfully advising clients and their stakeholders in a number of industries including financial services, manufacturing, retail, construction and hospitality.
Since moving to the Caribbean eight years ago, David has led regional engagements across a number of service lines but has specialist experience in the financially stressed and distressed environment. He has significant knowledge on advising clients on their financial and legal options, developing turnaround plans (both formally and informally), and negotiating multi-party agreements in distressed situations. He has represented individuals, companies, financial institutions and regional regulators. In addition, he is commonly appointed as an insolvency practitioner by the Supreme Court of Barbados or Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.
David is a licensed Trustee in Barbados and Saint Vincent and has been appointed as an insolvency practitioner by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a qualified Insolvency Practitioner in the UK.
Selected Project Experience:
- Receiver of Bank of Nevis International Limited – Appointed by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court to act as Receiver following the successful application of a judgement creditors to collect monies owed by the international bank based in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
- Receiver of First Saint Vincent Bank Limited – Appointed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank to complete a portfolio transfer of over 4,000 customers to Bank of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and wind-up the remaining assets and liabilities of the bank.
- Appointed inspector over a Bankrupt Estate, situated in Barbados, to provide oversight and challenge to the bankruptcy process on behalf of the body of creditors (including individuals, corporates and the UK’s financial services compensation scheme).
- Court-appointed liquidator of a forex broker incorporated in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines which led to investigations across a number of jurisdictions including Dubai, Cyprus and Estonia.
- Court-appointed receiver over two Saint Lucian incorporated International Business Companies with combined debts of over USD100 million.
- Appointed receiver over three prominent properties situated on the West Coast of Barbados.
