An accomplished energy sector CEO and board member, David Carroll inspires organizations to achieve success in a changing world, leveraging people, technology and principles-based strategies.

David retired from GTI Energy in 2022, serving as its President and CEO for 16 years. Under his leadership, this research and technology company saw unprecedented growth in size, global reach, market impact and employee engagement.

Prior to joining GTI Energy, he held various technical and management positions with industrial companies Praxair, Inc., CB&I, and Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.

David was elected President of the International Gas Union in 2015, an organization driving the economic and technical progress of the gas industry in over 80 countries. His term concluded at the highly successful World Gas Conference in Washington, D.C. in June 2018.

David is a director of National Fuel Gas Company, an integrated natural gas producer, transporter and utility in multiple states. He also serves as a Trustee of the American Gas Foundation, an organization that provides critical research to support the development of enlightened energy and environmental public policies.

David is a Strategic Advisor to Energy Capital Ventures, an early-stage venture fund. He is a member of the Technical Advisory Board of Mountain View Clean Energy, an Azimuth Capital development company focused on the production of low-carbon fuels. He was a founding member of the governing board of the Natural Gas Initiative at Stanford University and is a member of the Society of Gas Lighting in New York.

David earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in business administration from Lehigh University and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
