Chris Hinde

Managing Director, Transport and Travel Practice Lead

Chris Hinde is a Managing Director within the Management Consulting team at Teneo, based in London, and leads Teneo’s Transport practice.

Chris leads Teneo’s engagements in the transport sector, focusing particularly on rail, bus and transport technology. He is an expert adviser on commercial strategy and his clients include owning groups, operating companies, authorities, technology providers and principal investors. Chris also leads our cross-industry Strategic Bid Support function, serving a varied group of clients across healthcare, software, technology, transport and other B2G and B2B industries.

Chris’ specific experience includes the following:

  • Commercial strategy and revenue growth – developing initiatives and leading commercial and technical modelling to grow revenue under BAU, drive value creation from acquisitions and to support major franchise and tender opportunities.
  • Bid support – directing major bids and proposals for opportunities worth up to c.£10bn, across multiple sectors, with a focus on overarching strategy and right-to-win, commercial risk and opportunity assessment, plan authoring, social value and shadow evaluation/critical review.
  • Commercial due diligence – leading detailed buy- and sell-side commercial due diligence on transport assets for private equity and corporate clients.
  • Reform strategy – Chris has worked extensively with both private and public sector participants in the rail industry on topics of reform and industry change. This includes supporting GBRTT with revenue forecasting at a national level, as well as further major projects in the areas of retailing, railcards and revenue recovery.
  • Regulatory strategy – working with regulators and system operators within highways and rail, including work on the impact of incentives and ensuring the deliverability of major capital programmes.

Prior to joining Teneo, Chris worked for a leading cybersecurity and intelligence firm and was, for a brief period, a semi-professional rowing coach. He lives in Greenwich, London, with his wife, Verity and their three children.

Chris holds an MA (Hons) in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
