The Role

We are looking for a well-rounded, junior to mid-level developer to join our small friendly in-house development team. You will work on a variety of challenging internal projects primarily focused on a mid-sized internal PHP web application.

The role offers an opportunity to learn a bespoke internal solution in its infancy and contribute to the solutions and direction the product takes. As a team we collaborate closely with IT on other in-house DevOps solutions using Fabric, Azure functions & Python even exploratory Office Web Addins.

The role is predominantly remote with occasional meetups through the year at our central London office.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in hands-on development of a bespoke PHP/MySQL application based on CodeIgniter4.
  • Develop, maintain and update a variety of other projects outside of traditional web applications.
  • Identify and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct exploratory work on proposed integrations to create specifications.
  • Participate in project management and stakeholder calls.

Key Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in PHP and familiar with modern frameworks such as Laravel or Codeigniter4.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
  • An understanding of databases (for example MySQL).
  • Familiarity with version control using GIT.
  • Self-motivated and keen to learn.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously

 

Preferable Requirements

  • Experience integrating external web services (SOAP, REST).
  • Interest in modern native JS beyond the usual frameworks.
  • Familiarity of Azure tooling (PowerShell/Fabric/PowerBi)
  • Basic Windows WSL2/Linux administration
  • An understanding of unit testing with PHP Unit
