The Team

Teneo’s Strategy team helps organisations to devise evidence-based strategies that build trust, protect reputation, and drive growth.  Our work not only shapes communications and campaigns, but also informs business decisions, optimising the operations and positioning of some of the largest brands and businesses in the world.  Our approach is audience-led and evidence-based.  As such, we tend to draw heavily on qualitative and quantitative research and statistical data analysis where possible to drive the development of our projects.

We help organisations to:

  • determine where audiences stand on client-critical issues and what drives their perceptions.
  • define the shape of key audience segments, gaining a deeper understanding of where they are, what they like, and how to reach them.
  • identify and unpack the reputational positioning required to achieve client objectives: their ‘winning territory’.
  • devise strategies to help clients reach their winning territory by focusing on the arguments that influence both perception and behaviour.

We are looking for an experienced mixed-methods researcher who has an interest in developing a career in strategy. A Senior Consultant (SC) in the Strategy team plays a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day delivery of client projects. The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • General project management & delivery
  • Experience in end-to-end management of large-scale mixed-methods research projects.
  • Ability to understand the challenges our clients face and make relevant strategic recommendations based on in-depth analyses of audience research.
  • Experience in creating compelling and concise presentations of complex data for senior internal colleagues or external clients that you deliver in conjunction with your colleagues.
  • Ability to develop a research proposal or plan in response to questions asked by team leaders and other senior colleagues.
  • Ability to be the day-to-day liaison with clients, understanding how their priorities may change, setting clear expectations, reporting back on progress and key deliverables, and ensuring that team leaders are aware of any potential issues.
  • Ability to manage and support junior colleagues, ensuring they are thoroughly briefed on incoming projects and understand what is expected.

The role

A Senior Consultant in Teneo’s Strategy team is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to our clients. They play a key role in delivering quality work, overseeing more junior team members and ensuring agreed timelines on client projects are met.

Senior Consultants also play a critical role in mentoring and helping to upskill junior colleagues, and work into and learn from our Associate Directors, Managing Directors and senior leadership.

Teams are built around individual projects and vary based on project scope and clients’ needs.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with varied experience and wide-ranging perspectives. Like us, they’ll be intellectually curious, creative, great team players and eager to learn.

Specific skills & qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a mixed-methods research agency or similar
  • Ability to manage and moderate qualitative research, including focus groups, triads and depth interviews
  • Confidence in managing all aspects of the quantitative research process, including sample specs, survey writing, data specs and reading data tables
  • Ability to analyse primary quantitative data using Excel, draw out the most interesting insights, and weave them into logical and compelling stories with clear strategic imperatives
  • Having a theoretical understanding of statistical analyses techniques, such as significance testing, regression, segmentation and conjoint, and when to use them
  • Academic training in the measurement of public attitudes and behaviours, in disciplines such as psychology, political science, marketing, statistics or economics considered a plus
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office and an acute attention to detail
