As Teneo continues to expand and evolve their Global People Team, Teneo is looking for an Employee Relations (ER) Specialist to join our New York office to advise and counsel colleagues on a wide range of ER related matters across the Americas.

Description:

As Employee Relations (ER) specialist, you will support the development of positive employee relationships, while ensuring Teneo remains in compliance with all labor laws within US, Canada and our other markets within the Americas. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all US immigration matters and assisting our US based foreign nationals with immigration procedures.

Reporting into the Global Head of Employee Relations, you will establish best practice in this area and will be expected to demonstrate extensive Performance Management & Employee Relations knowledge, drive process changes and efficiencies and make decisions in a timely manner that are logical, rational, and well-reasoned as well as be a collaborator across the wider People Team function.

Responsibilities

  • Advise business leads and people-team colleagues on a wide range of employee relations issues throughout the employee life cycle, including employee disputes, complaints, performance management, company policies and procedures, disciplinary hearings, background checks, and legal requirements.
  • Function as the escalation point of contact for complex employee relations issues, collaborating closely with in-house legal counsel and outside counsel to coordinate efforts.
  • Oversee and drive employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and to promote an elevated level of employee engagement across our regional offices in the US, Canada, and Caribbean.
  • Maintain HR policies and handbooks within the region based on local market practices; ensure policies and handbooks are up to date in line with any changes to employment law within our jurisdictions.
  • Steward, conduct and govern employee related investigations, as necessary.
  • Oversee immigration programs and ensure compliance with all visa sponsorship and renewal processes for our US foreign nationals.
  • Ensure all employee records are maintained in compliance with state and federal requirements.

 

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience working as a Human Resources Generalist or Employee Relations Specialist, including complex investigations and issues resolution
  • In depth knowledge and ability to interpret local labour laws across the Americas, Canada, and Caribbean (strong US knowledge required, other markets in the Americas are preferred)
  • Excellent people skills:

    • Verbal and written communication: Ability to acquire, develop and convey ideas and information through clear and concise verbal and written communications.
    • Organization Skills: Viewed as a dependable colleague, by ensuring accountability in yourself and leading others to do the same.
  • Knowledge of US visa / immigration laws and processes
  • Guided by principles, values, and standards, maintaining the highest level of professional conduct in the workplace. Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Base Salary Range: $145,000 – $170,000 (compensation for this role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience that may fall outside of the range listed).

Total Compensation Package:Includes annualized bonus, 401k match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of additional benefits and rewards.

 

Flexible Work Policy:Teneo believes in in-person collaboration when possible and if you are assigned to the New York, Washington D.C, San Francisco and Boston offices, the company expectation is for employees to work from the office location a minimum of three times a week.
